The Pilates Box

The Pilates box is a term used by Pilates instructors to describe correct alignment and is formed by the horizontal lines of the hips and shoulders and the vertical lines between the hips and shoulders.  This visual representation serves as a continuous reminder of symmetry as you work out.  Ask yourself, “Am I square?” Train your eyes to detect and adjust any misalignments you see and other places where boxes can be formed.

How many configurations of boxes do you see in Andrea’s execution of the Footwork series on the Wunda chair? Is she square?
